Giving your users the ability to submit content to your WordPress website without having them register or login could give your website a boost in exposure. Hosting guest content is one of the easiest ways rapport online. So how exactly do you setup this functionality within WordPress?
Allowing Registered Users to Submit Content
By affording non-members the ability to submit content to your blog, you may first want to enable guest posting by registered users. To setup registered user posting onto your WordPress website, perform the following steps:
- Login to WordPress Admin Panel and click Settings & General
- Ensure the Membership checkbox saying Anyone Can Register is checked.
- Verify that New User Default Role is set to Author
Note: Give users a heads up about being able to register, ensure your Meta widget is visible.
If you're unfamiliar with how to add a WordPress widget, go to Appearance and Widgets and drag the Meta widget onto the sidebar of your theme.
